Beerakaya / Ribbed Gourd Chutney


Ribbed gourd --- 1 big
Onion --- 1/2 of the big one
Green Chilies --- 4 small size
Tamarind --- 2 strands
Salt --- as per taste
Split-Urad-Dal --- half spoon
Oil --- 1 tsp + 1 tbsln


Peel ribbed gourd and cut into small pieces.
Chop onions.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add green chilies into it.
When the green chilies start turning into white dots add split-urid-dal into the pan.
Fry until split-urid-dal turns to brown colour.
Keep them in a bowl separately, and clean the tamarind and add it in the bowl.
Add some more oil into the frying pan.
Add chopped onions and ribbed gourd pieces into the pan.
Fry them until the rawness goes away.
Let’s cool the fried ones.
First grind the fried green chilies, split-urid-dal and Tamarind.
Later add fried onions, ribbed gourd and Garlic Clove and salt into the blender to grind.
Ribbed-gourd chutney ready.
