Broccoli Curry

I learnt this curry from my friend Kalyani.

What is there in Broccoli?

. Vitamins in Broccoli: A, B2, B6, C, K and Folate.
. Minerals in Broccoli: Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc.
. Chemicals present in broccoli protect against lung cancer.
· It protects against stomach cancer.
· Consumption of broccoli was strongly associated with a reduced risk of heart problems.

Cooking time:

To chop and cook it takes 30 minutes.

Ingredients:

Broccoli --- 1 floret
Green Chilies --- 2
Onion --- ½ of the big one
Turmeric powder --- a pinch
Red chilly powder
Salt --- as per taste

For Seasoning:

Oil --- 4 spoons
Urad dal
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
Whole red chilly --- 1 --- teared
Curry leaves --- 5-7

Process:

Make small florets from the broccoli.

Chop the tender part of the stems.

Heat four spoon of oil in a deep pan.
Ø Add & Toast seasoning like urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chilly.
Ø Add curry leaves and chopped green chilies.
Ø Fry it till the green chilies get white spots.
Ø Add chopped onions and Fry for a while.

Ø Add chopped broccoli to it.

Add a pinch of turmeric powder and enough salt to it.
Turn the flame to medium.
Cover the pan with lid.
Stir it up occasionally.
Add half a spoon of red chilly powder when the broccoli becomes tender and uncover the pan.
Cook for 5 minutes till the water goes off.
Transfer the curry to a serving bowl.
