Alasanda (Black-Eyed-Beans) Guggillu

My mom prepares this one.

Serving for:

Exactly two cups.


Black Eyed Beans / Alasandalu --- ½ cup (120 ml)
Onion --- ¼th of the big one
Lime Juice


Clean and Soak Alasandalu in water for 8 hours.

For Seasoning:

Oil --- 1 spoon or 1 tsp
Urad dal --- ½ tsp
Mustard seeds --- ½ tsp
Cumin seeds --- ¼ tsp
Red chilly --- 2 chopped (Compulsory)
Curry leaves --- 6-7


After soaking them… Keep them in a pressure cooker by adding water and salt.

Keep it for 3 whistles.
Let the pressure go away.
Drain the water with the help of colander.

Heat oil in a pan.
Add & Toast seasoning like urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chopped red chilly.
Add curry leaves too.
Add the cooked one to it and fry it for 2 minutes.

Turn off the flame.
Let it cool.
In the mean while, chop onions into small pieces.
Add the chopped onions and lime juice to it.
Mix it well.

Really… it tastes good.
