Gongura Curry / Thalimpu Gongura / Noone Gongura

This tasty curry is very easy to prepare. Only plucking gongura is the boring job. Just Season it , add green chilies, onions & gongura leaves add salt... when it was done add red chilly powder . That's it. Surely, try this curry. You definitely enjoy this curry.

I made this curry with pulla gongura but my mother prepares with white gongura. Either is good.

Preparation time --- 15 minutes
Cooking time (on medium high flame) --- 20 minutes

Serving for:

4 people


Gongura --- 3 bunches
Green chilies --- 4 small
Onion --- ½ of the big one
Red chilly powder --- 1 tsp
Salt --- as per the taste

For Seasoning:

Oil --- 6 tblsp
Channa dal --- 1 tblsp
Urad dal --- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds --- ½ tsp
Cumin seeds --- ¼ tsp
Dry red chilly --- 1 chopped
Curry leaves --- 6-7


Pluck the leaves of gongura leaves.
Wash the leaves and drain the water with the help of colander.
Chop green chilies and onions.
Chop gongura leaves.
Heat oil in a deep pan.
Add and toast seasoning one by one like channa dal, urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped dry red chilly.
Add curry leaves and chopped green chilies.
Stir fry till the green chilies get white spots.
Add chopped onions.
Stir fry till the onions come to translucent colour.
Add enough salt to onions and fry for half minute.
Add chopped gongura leaves.
Stir fry for 2 minutes ... It becomes compact.
Add salt for gongura leaves.
Fry till the gongura cooks.
Add 1 tsp of red chilly powder.
Taste it… if needed adjust salt to it.
Stir fry for 5 minutes.
Transfer the Curry to a Serving bowl.
The tasty & spicy gongura curry is ready.
