Chakkara Pongali / Sweet Pongal (with Sugar)

Simple... Simple... Simple... Yep, it is very easy to make and tasty to eat. And this is one of the traditional naivedyams to offer to The God.

Recipe Source: My Mom-in-law.

Ingredients:

Rice --- 3/4th cup

Yellow Moongdal --- 1/4th cup

Water --- 2 cups

Sugar --- 1 cup

Ghee --- 1/4th cup

Dry coconut pieces --- a few

Cashews --- a few

Raisens --- a few

Process:

Wash rice and dal together. Pour 2 cups of water to a bowl and pressure cook it for 3 whistles. As soon as the pressure goes away (immediately) add sugar to a pan and add this cooked rice and dal to it and keep the pan on heat and keep stirring till the sugar melts. Once the sugar is melted turn off the heat.

In an other pan add ghee and fry the coconut pieces, broken cashews & raisens till golden brown and then add to the pongal and mix well. Chakarapongali is ready. Once it comes to the room temperature you can offer it to The God.
