Onion Pakoda / Pakora

It is good to eat Pakodas when it is raining. It is easy to make when unexpected guests come home. Yesterday it was raining so I thought of making pakodas.

Serves For: 3-4 people.

Ingredients:

Besan (Gram Flour) --- 1 cup (235 ml)
Rice flour --- 1 Table spoon
Red chilly powder --- 1 tea spoon
Salt --- 3/4th tea spoon
Baking powder (soda vuppu) --- a pinch
Oil
Onions --- 1/2 of the big one

Note:

Salt and Red chilly powder can be put little bit less or more. It is according to your taste.

Process of making Pakoda batter:

Chop onions into thin slices.

In a bowl add besan, rice flour, red chilly powder, salt, baking powder and 1 table spoon of heated oil.

Add ¾ cup of water and make a think batter without any lumps.

Heat oil in a deep pan in medium-high flame.

Process of making Pakoda:

Add sliced onions into the batter.
Mix them well.
To know whether the oil is heated or not drop a small ball of the batter. If the ball comes up immediately then it is the sign that the oil is heated. At the same time oil should not be too much heated.
Take small amount of batter into your fingers.
Drop that into the heated oil like scattering with your fingers where each slice of onion should be thinly coated with the batter.

Deep fry both sides of the pakodas till they turn to bit dark than the besan colour.
Remove from the oil and keep in a paper towel.

Serve Hot.
